One thing that always amazed me is how wide the X6M’s or just X6 rear tires are. I saw a most on here earlier today about the CL63/65 and I was wondering if large AMG Mercs would have tires nearly as wide. (Mystery solved, they do not.)

But what are the widest tires on cars that shouldn’t have them? Like Corvette ZR1s rightfully have wide tires, but how about the weird ones.

Here’s a picture of the X6Ms fine butt and it’s 12.8 inches wide of tire.

265s on the back of a torqueless M20-powered E34 5MT? With the Dinan chip it is allegedly up to 183 HP, but the car is 26 years old, so it’s probably down to the standard 168 HP. It’s somewhat difficult to lose traction with this combo.

I've always loved that style wheel, looks great on the E34 and E39! I bet the 540i wouldn't have too much trouble getting the wheels spinning.

That is a gorgeous looking 5-series. Love the color and the wheels on it.

Like the stock alloys on the E21, these are a bitch to clean because of all of the spokes and tiny little slots near the hub. Not helping matters was the fact that the car wash would spray on that acid-based wheel cleaner, despite my telling them not to, and thus pitting the wheels somewhat.

These wheels did come from an E39 540i, and yes, I don’t think spinning them on the original car would be an issue. Most of the time I don’t like swapping wheels between generations of cars, but these have a timeless, almost Alpina-esque, look that works on almost any BMW. I wanted either E34 M5 wheels or the 3-piece mesh BBS units from E39s with the sport package, but the prices on all of those were obscene, and these seemed like a good compromise.

Thanks! I lowered the front, put on some factory chrome tips on the exhaust pipes, tinted the windows and added the E39 wheels, but that’s about it for the external mods.

I absolutely love this color(‘Delphingrau’ - Dolphin Grey), with it’s slight hint of green, and if I ever need to repaint any vehicle I want it in this same exact shade.

Yep. But I still think it’s odd, as well. But it aesthetically goes hand-in-hand with everything having 17”-18” wheels these days.

X6M rear tires are 325mm wide on a 11.5” rim, and are probably the HEAVIEST tire out there. A friend of mine who works at a BMW dealership says taking the regular X6 rims on and off the car is back breaking.

The widest OEM tire that I know of is the current gen ZO6, with a 335mm width tire!!! Like you said, rightfully so!

A lot of those ‘grancoupe’ crossovers have abnormally wide tires. The Audi Q7 has a 295 tire option on the higher trims. I think anything over 235 is a wide tire these days!

The Viper runs a 295/30/18 in the front and 355/30/19 in the rear.

355!!! The P-Zero Corsa rears are about $460 a tire. Expensive, but not as expensive as I thought it would be. I was expecting $600+.
